A drifter who rides a mule and plays the guitar arrives in Dodge City to a surprise. All the voices in this episode were redone by Palette Pioneer
Simple-minded Weeb Pendle comes to Dodge riding on a mule. He's promptly picked on by bullies. The script was used again on this series March 9, 1958 and on the Gunsmoke television series on July 21, 1956. A funny looking guy named Weed Pendle had arrived in Dodge City. He was broke and had nothing in the world but his mule and his guitar.
When Short and Tyler found out that he had been in the army in the third Illinois Cavalry for the Yankees they made it their purpose to make Pendle’s life a misery but they went too far. Short and Tiler think that Marshal Matt Dillon is out of town and decide to hang a yank named Pendle for a bit of fun. However Matt turns up and puts a stop to it. Pendle is actually from Texas but even so joined the Union army but only did what he was told to do. Now the war long over he was simply a wanderer with his guitar but Matt fears that Short and Tiler are mean enough to kill him.

...THEME SONG: Most radio programs are readily identified by their theme songs, but few themes ever become "stars" in their own right and command both fan mail and phone calls.
NBC Hollywood has such a property on hand however, in the theme song of James Stewart's Western adventure series, "Six Shooter" (NBC-WIBA, Sundays, 7 p.m.).
Producer Jack Johnstone has explained that "at first it was an occasional card inquiring about our theme--who wrote it, its title, and so forth. But now its resolved itself into a steady flow of letters and phone calls each week."
The tune causing all the excitement is "The Highland Lament" by Ralph Vaughan Williams.
"It's a special English recording restricted to broadcast use only."...
When you listen to a James Stewert 6 Shooter episode you will only hear part of , Ralph Vaughan William’s "The Highland Lament."
I found the complete version and want to make it available for you to hear.
It lasts 2 Min 44 Sec. I thought it was an exceptional song also.
