Are
you working within your target heart rate zone? Your target
heart rate zone
(training zone) is the range between 60% and 80% of your
maximum heart rate. Working within this zone gives you the
maximum health and fat-burning benefits from your cardiovascular
activity.
To determine
if you're working within your zone, locate your radial artery
at the side of your wrist with your index finger, and count
the beats for 10 seconds, then multiply by 6. This result
should be within the minimum and maximum training heart
rate values listed below.
For
individuals who are sedentary or have been exercising regularly
for less than 6 months, use the Beginners/Intermediates
calculator. Advanced Exercisers --
those who have been exercising regularly for at least 6
months. -- can use the Advanced
calculator.
To use
the calculators, simply enter your age (and resting heart
rate for Advanced Exercisers), then click the Calculate
button to see your results. (Please note that your
browser must be Java Script enabled to use the calculators)
