The Roku Audio Guide provides an accessible entertainment experience for the blind and visually impaired. Audio Guide is a text-to-speech screen reader that assists customers with navigation of the Roku user interface and onscreen menus. When activated, Audio Guide will read out text, menus and other onscreen items.

Audio Guide can be turned on or off by pressing the Options button on the Roku remote four times consecutively after it has been activated using the instructions listed below. The Options button is located just below the directional pad and at the right hand side of the Roku remote.

Customers can also turn Audio Guide on or off within the Accessibility category of the Settings menu. Other options include adjusting the speech rate, text-to-speech volume, or disabling the Audio Guide remote shortcut.

 

How to enable the Roku Audio Guide On Your Roku In The Settings Menu.

 

Step by step instructions for the vision impaired.

1  Push left arrow on your roku remote while you are in the home screen grid.

2  Push down arrow on roku remote six times to get to settings.

3  Push right arrow on roku remote once.

4  Push down arrow three times to accessibility.

5  Push right arrow on roku remote.

6  Push down arrow three times to audio guide.

7  Push right arrow once.

8  Push ok on roku remote to turn on roku audio guide.

9  Push home button once to return to the home screen.



When in the roku home screen the roku audio guide will tell you how many items - roku channels are on your home screen grid.

After you have installed the Radio Reader Channel, note its position number in the home screen grid.

When you want to listen to the Radio Reader Channel use the arrow buttons on your Roku remote to move to the home screen position number of the Radio Reader Channel and push the OK button on the roku remote to start the Radio reader Channel.

Push the OK button again to launch the Radio Reader Channel.

The Roku audio guide will read the top left grid channel information first.

The top left grid position is the default grid position on all channels.

To listen to different audio channels in the Radio Reader Channel grid move the Roku Remote up, down, left, right arrow keys to change the audio channel you want to listen to.

Radio Reader 1 has 4 channel positions.

Radio Reader 2 has 3 channel positions.

Radio Reader 3 has 3 channel positions.

Radio Reader 4 has 3 channel positions.

Radio Reader 5 has 3 channel positions.

Good News Radio has 9 channel positions.

Classical Music has 3 channel positions.

There are  15 Radio Reader Stations.

There are 9 Christian music and Gospel stations.

There are 3 Classical Music Stations.

There are a total of 28 grid postions.
